Plastic 3D printing is a "from scratch" manufacturing technology. Simply put, it uses plastic as raw material and piles it layer by layer through a printer to turn the design drawing on the computer into a real object. It’s just like squeezing cream to "draw" three-dimensional objects layer by layer. It’s completely different from the paper printers we usually use—paper printing is flat, but 3D printing can make three-dimensional items with thickness and shape. Now plastic 3D printing has entered our lives. From small keychains and phone holders to large industrial parts and medical models, all can be made quickly through it. It is not only relatively easy to operate, but also more and more affordable. It has become a good helper for ordinary people to realize their creativity and for enterprises to improve efficiency, and it is also the most widely used type of 3D printing currently.

The core principle of plastic 3D printing is very simple. In essence, it is "layered manufacturing and layer-by-layer superposition", without complex mechanical processing processes, so ordinary people can easily understand it. First, we need to draw a 3D design drawing of the item we want to make on the computer. Then the printer software will cut this design drawing into countless thin "slices", just like cutting a cake into many layers. Next, the printer’s nozzle will heat and melt the plastic material, squeeze out the melted plastic bit by bit according to the shape of the slices, and it will solidify and take shape after cooling. After one layer is printed, the printing platform will drop slightly, and then print the next layer. By repeating this superposition, from the bottom layer to the top layer, the flat slices are slowly turned into a three-dimensional object. The whole process is like children building blocks, and complex shapes can be completed step by step.

The application scope of plastic 3D printing is becoming wider and wider. It is no longer limited to "making small ornaments", but has penetrated into many fields such as life, industry and medical care, bringing a lot of convenience to our lives. In daily home life, we can print customized storage boxes, decorative ornaments, and even small parts that fit our own furniture. In the field of education, teachers can use it to print teaching models to help students intuitively understand complex structures, such as human organs and mechanical parts. In industrial production, enterprises can use it to quickly make product prototypes, saving research and development time and costs. In the medical field, doctors can print personalized medical stents, prosthetics, etc. according to the patient’s situation to improve the treatment effect. In addition, it is also widely used in fields such as maker DIY and jewelry making, realizing various creative ideas in a convenient way.
